Lake Merritt Dance Organizer's Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit that gives dance organizers and dancers a home for their communities in Oakland.  
​Our space located at 200 Grand Ave at the Veteran's Memorial Hall. 

 Our mission is to provide affordable, beautiful dance space to community-based dance groups in Oakland.

Lake Merritt Dance depends on community support to remain viable. Our fundraising goal is $30,000.

Oakland Queer
Dance Studio
Our mission at Oakland Queer Dance Studio is to provide a place where students can learn popular social dance styles and be able to fully participate in social dance within, and beyond, the Bay Area queer dance communities.
​Our classes are designed with beginner dancers in mind.
We try to offer at least one beginner-level class each day. You can choose to lead or follow. You do not need to bring a partner—we rotate partners regularly.
The types of dances we teach include: Country-Western Two-Step & Waltz, East-Coast Swing, Nightclub Two-Step, Lindy Hop, Ballroom, and more!

Interested in Renting Space?

We have 6 different rooms available at Lake Merritt Dance on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays with a varying amount of availability.  You will need to inquire for rates and room availability below. 

​We have other times and locations available, but here are the priority times we are looking for long term renters for right now.
  • Wednesday: Ballroom ​
Our policies are as follows
  • Weekly rentals get priority
  • Small room minimum is 2-hours, large rooms are rented per evening
  • Must acquire insurance
  • Setup/breakdown are included in your time slots
The different rooms
  • Hall 1 - 200 person capacity (~2000 sq. ft.)
  • Hall 2 - 62 person capacity (~1000 sq. ft.)
  • Hall 3 - 53 person capacity 
  • Ballroom - 315 person capacity (~ 4000 sq. ft.)
  • Lounge - 120 person capacity (~1680 sq. ft.)
  • MPR - 62 person capacity (~900 sq. ft.)
